Irma was born in 1923.  Irma's father was Francisco Adrián Parada (De la Fuente) and her mother was Otilia Latham (Merino).  Her maternal grandparents were Marcos Eusebio Latham (Hall) and Brigida Merino (Muñoz). She had six brothers and two sisters, named Adrián, Genaro, Oscar, Fernando, Raúl, Rubén, Graciela and Eliana.  She was the sixth oldest of the nine children.
