obit citation (Shelton-Anderson): Title: The Greensburg News Author: Greensburg, Indiana, Repository [Decatur County] Note: Personal library Call Number: Media: Newspaper Page: Fri 3 June 1904, p 5 col 2 “Jonathan Wise, aged 76 years, died at his home near Newpennington at one o’clock Sunday morning after an illness of about six weeks with a complication of lung and heart troubles. The deceased was born in Fayette county, but came to this county, but came to this county when a young man and has resided in Saltcreek township for over fifty years. He was one of the best known citizens of the county and was highly respected. He was a veteran of the civil war and was a member of the G.A.R. His wife and three children, Mrs. J.B. Moody of this city, C. B. Wise of Washington D.C., and Ray a younger son who lives at home, survive him. The funeral services will be held at Newpennington at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon and the interment will be at the Rossburg cemetery.”
