m. to James OWEN living on 14 Jun 1819 per will of father-in-law James WADE, evidently in Washington Cty, KY husband James executor for father John's will in that will, John indicated intention to live with James (and Sally) buried Breckenridge Cemetery, Bedford, IN
Mary Ann Wade: Greenbury's sister (Sarah Wade Owens) signed the marriage bond for John Evan Wade. Most researchers assumed she was the mother, but I thought she was too young. Another fact is that John Evan did not live with the Owens family, and Sarah named her first son with James Owens, JOHN. The Owens family did move to Indiana, and John Evan and his wife followed.
On February 22, 1796 in Washington County, Kentucky, Sarah Wade married James Owens. John Wade signed for her as parent of guardian indicating she was under 21 years of age. Sarah Wade was born before 1780. John Evan Wade was three years old at the time of Sarah's marriage to James Owens.
On June 13, 1811, when John Evan Wade married Eleanora Brewer, Sarah Owens signed for him.
If Sarah was Evan's mother, then Evan's father must have been dead by 1796 leaving Sarah a young widow with Evan to raise. John Wade signed the marriage bond for his daughter Sarah. He called her Sally.
More research needs to be done. There are extensive WADE family notes in the New York Public Library.
Sarah and husband, James, are buried at Breckenridge Cemetery. Bedford, Indiana.
