    Michael was a barber-surgeon and accoucheur in Lublin, Poland:  he gave haircuts, performed dentistry and minor operations, and assisted women in childbirth.  Michael had a brother named Shmuel-Dovid, who emigrated to London.

    There were six children altogether - your great grandfather, Isaac (called Israel on the Ellis Island manifest), my grandfather, Zigmund who lived and died in London, Samuel, who lived in London, but whose family live in England and the USA, Joseph-
    all in the USA, Sarah who lived in London and did not have any children, and Gittel (Anita or Ana) who moved straight to Buenos Aires, where there are other "Struzers" with whom I correspond.  I only managed to trace her last week, after a number of
    years of searching.  Your family is spread across the UK, USA and Australia, to my knowledge, although
    there are also Struzers in Montreal.  None in Brazil as far as I know- I wonder whether this is the Argentine connection after a couple of generations of misinterpretation?  I have lots of information about many of the people in the family tree.

    Hello Steve, My name is Jeffrey Struzer. I am Francie's father who you emailed a few days ago. I am also 55 years old although I will celebrate my birthday very soon. I am a sales manager for an office products company in New York City. I live in Floral Park, NY which is in the borough of Queens which is one of the live boroughs of NY City.  My late father Louis had told me that his family was from what used to be called Russian Poland, His father Harry was a barber and his mothers name was Freida. They emigrated to England before going to Canada and from there came to the U.S. Other relatives stayed in Canada. My family came to NY in the early 1920's. My father was born in Montreal. I know of no family in South America although my father had relatives who moved to Detroit Michigan and I believe some are in California.  I have a married daughter Julie who lives with her husband in NY and Francie lives and teaches in Baltimore, Maryland.

    Lublin cemeteries:  Lublin - the Old Cemetery (between Sienna and Kalinowszyzny streets) was established in the 15th century, about 200 tombstones preserved. The oldest one is the tomb of Jakub Kopelman ha-Lewi (died in 1541 ). The cemetery contains the tombs of the follow- ing: Szalom Szachna (died in 1558), founder of the Talmudic academy of Lublin; Salomon Luria (Maharszal-) who died in 1573, rector of the academy; Cwi Hirsz ben Zacharia Mendel (died in 1690), rabbi of the Jewish community of Lublin; Tzaddik Jakub Icchak Horowitz, called Prophed of Lublin (died in 1815). - The New Cemetery (Walecznych Street) established- ished in 1829 and in operation until today; several dozen tombstones preserved.
