Daviess Cty 18 Feb 1863, m. Catherine Dowling 25 May 1883, 11 children, preceded in death by wife and 5 children, surviving children are Dennis, John, Silas and Dowling Mattingly; Mrs. Lillian Lannan "of this vicinity" and Mrs. Wm. Fitzsimmors ("(error)" per NMBaker) of Indianapolis, brother William Mattingly also survives; qv. death record H23-53 Daviess Cty

    Mrs. Harriett Gough who was the wife of Charles Gough, died at her home in Loogootee after a lingering illness from tuberculosis.  Mrs. Gough was a daughter of the late John Mattingly and was born and reared in Barr township.  Her husband and two brothers William and Sidney Mattingly of Barr township, survive.  [NMB note:]  Martin Co. Death Record - Harriet Goff born 3 Apr 1859 died 5 June 1912.  Buried St. Mary's.  Married Charles Gough.  Daughter of John and Mary J. Gootee Mattingly.
