There is a John Gordon in the 1831 Census who is not easily attached to any of the Gordon Lines in Lislea. It seems likely that he was a member of the James Gordon Line because he lived next door in House 26. He lived in a household of four males and three females.
A John Gordon and a James Gordon jointly held Plot 38 in Lislea in the Griffiths Valuation, comprising 19/3/0 arps, John living in Hse 38a and James in Hse 38b. This property is in the area known as Hill Head, and is just north of Plot 37 in Hill Head, where George Gordon lives.
Hill Head is the name of the farm which Nellie Gordon said William Gordon inherited from his father, Willie Gordon. Judging by the valuation of the land, James held two thirds and John one third. Is John his brother or his father?
GVRBs:
The John Gordon who held Plot 38 in the original GV, with James Gordon, is NOT scored out until 19-illegible but possibly 1914, when he is replaced by "Jas". He is in the 1911 Census, aged 86, which makes him born in 1825, so, I suppose he could indeed be the same man as in the GV. I would guess that the "Jas" who replaced him is the same "Jas" who, in 1924, replaced the James Gordon, with whom he shared Plot 38 at that time.
