John's father was Thomas Gordon and his mother was Catherine Carmichael. He had two brothers and a sister, named Thomas, Robert and Nancy.  He died at the age of 63 on April 10th, 1869 in Lislea.

  Letters of Administration of the personal estate of John Gordon late of Lislea County Londonderry Farmer a Widower deceased who died 11 April 1869 at same place were granted at Londonderry to James Gordon of Lislea (Kilrea) aforesaid Farmer the Son and one of the next of kin of said deceased.
  
  

• General Notes

  The gravestone which Margaret Turner insists is on our grandfather's grave in 1st Kilrea Presbyterian Church has a Robert John, died April 1856, aged 9, son of John Gordon. The father of the only Robert John (and he was born in Dec 1846) is called John, so this must be my GGGrandfather.
  
  His address is given as Kilrea in his marriage entry although his father's address is given as Lislea and all his childrens baptism entries have him as living in Lislea.
  
  A JOHN Gordon was mentioned in the 1831 Census but this man is probably too young - he would only be 25.  The John in the census lived in a household of four males and three females. 
  
  A John Gordon held the land around The Meen in the 1861 Griffiths Valuation: Plots 20 and 21 totalling 23 acres.
