JAMES SINCLAIR SWANSON Well known former Chilliwack resident, James Sinclair Swanson, died Thursday at his home in Santa Barbara, California. Mr. Swanson was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, June 3, 1900. Mr. Swanson came to Chilliwack in 1926, and was manager of the grocery department of David Spencer Ltd., for more than 10 years. He was an active member of the Kinsmen club of Chilliwack, and as a baritone soloist appeared in many community and church musical events. During the late thirties he associated himself with Overwaitea Ltd., and served that firm as a manager in Kamloops, Cloverdale and White Rock branches before emigrating to the United States in 1957. He is survived by his wife, Olive, in Santa Barbara; two daughters, Mrs. K. Ogden, Seattle, and Mrs. John Green, Virginia Beach, Virginia. A brother, William, is also in Santa Barbara, and a sister, Mrs. Helen Upton, in Calgary. There are three grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday in Santa Barbara. Rev. Robt. C. Miller of First Presbyterian Church officiated, and burial was in Santa Barbara cemetery.
