Petty Cash
poem
PETTY CASH
Dimes at the ends of our fingers
Dropping back into sea;
Quarters from feathered oar-blades
Dripping through sun, and we
Splashing up showers of silver
Rowing home clumsily.
Here is a franchised day-trip
Coinage to throw away,
Bright sea-dollars for noon-time,
Chicken-feed made of spray,
Rain-pennies, coppered by sunset glow,
From a high cloud far away.
