The Adolescent's Mother Speaks

poem
THE ADOLESCENT'S MOTHER
SPEAKS
You deplorable thing,
You adorable thing,
With your fingers all jam,
And your pockets all string,
With your hair like a mop
And your stockings a flop;
You outrageous,
Courageous,
Rampageous young thing,
I adore you.

You ridiculous thing,
You meticulous thing,
With your weird little code,
For a guide on the road,
With your hullabaloo,
About things they all do,
You breath-taking,
Heartbreaking,
Heart-shaking young thing,
I adore you.

You astounding young thing,
You abounding young thing,
With your visions and fears,
With your laughter and tears,
With your needs and demands,
Your requests and commands.
Your transgressions,
Obsessions,
Confessions - young thing,
I adore you.
