Douglas F. Archer, son of Captain Douglas Archer and Kate Rennie Archer, well known Berkeley poetess, has been commissioned pilot officer in the Canadian Royal Air Force. He also won the distinguished marksmanship medal of Canada. A graduate of Berkeley High School, young Archer left San Francisco Junior College to enlist in the Canadian forces in December, 1941. Captain Archer served with the famous 15th Division in World War One and Mrs. Archer held commissioned rank in the NACB first Women's Auxiliary Corps, 1916 to 1918. She also served in the Red Cross from 1914 to 1916.
