Shoestring trip

newspaper article
 Her Plan
A "shoestring" trip to Europe to shatter all minimum cost records is to be launched today by Mrs. Douglas Archer, Berkeley poetess, and her 10-year-old son, Douglas Jr Mrs. Archer said yesterday she expected to make the round trip to Glasgow, Scotland, to visit, relatives at a figure far under $500 for herself and son. And although she plans to cross the country by the cheapest stage route and negotiate the Atlantic third class, the Berkeley poetess revealed yesterday her luggage will include a change for every occasion. "It is not the comforts we are looking for on this trip, but the adventures," she said. Mrs. Archer is the wife of a hero of Ypres during the World War, living at 1060 Cragmont avenue. Captain Archer is now with a San Francisco Bay region industrial firm.
