Clapperton Hall fire, 1
newspaper article
Saturday, at one o'clock, a fire broke out in the office of Archibald Thomson, Clapperton-hall near Mid Calder which entirely consumed the farm together with the whole furniture in the house, two horses and cows; also a part of the stacks in the barnyard — his wife was nearly burnt to death. What adds to the misfortune, there was no insurance.
