Man Who Bombed Japs, Italians, And Germans
In a list of awards issued today Wg. Cdr. John Raymond Jeudwine, O.B.E., who has had the distinction of bombing Japanese, Italians, and Germans, and has. proved himself a brave, skilled seaman as well as airman, Has been awarded the D.F.C, The list includes nine D.F.C.s and five D.F.M.s. Jeudwine was in the Burma, Singapore, and Java campaigns, and escaped with eleven others in a lifeboat, which after seven weeks at sea reached Australia largely because of this airman’s seamanship. Then he commanded a squadron of Baltimores in the Middle East, after which came a period with Transport Command. He now leads a bomber squadron, in which he has taken part in a large number of sorties. Among other recipients is a Cardiff airman, Pilot Off. William Anthony Stratis, R.A.F.V.R., who was attacked five times by an enemy fighter when over Northern France this month and receives the D.F.C.

Pilot-officer William Anthony Stratis, R.A.F., V.R., who, as announced in Monday's "Western Mail," has been awarded the D.F.C. for "outwitting and out-manoevring an enemy plane" - before sending it to the ground in flames. Until he joined the R.A.F. in 1941 he was in business with his brother as a private hire taxi proprietor. He is the second son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Stratis, of Heol Isaf, Radyr, Cardiff, and has two brothers serving in the R.A.F.
