obituary, local newspaper
THE LATE MR ANDREW THOMSON.-
We regret to record the death of Mr Andrew Thomson (71), which occured at his residence in Strathbrock Brae on Sunday. Deceased had been confined to bed for a considerable time, and gradually becoming weaker passed away as stated. Mr Thomson was a well-known citizen, and was highly respected by a wide circle of friends. A keen Churchman, he has for many years taken an active part in the affairs of the West U.F. Church. For 22 years he has held the position of elder, while he acted as Session Clerk for the long period of 17years. He was also treasurer of the Sustentation Fund under the Free Church and latterly treasurer of the Central Fund since the union, his period of service in that capacity extending to 14 years. Besides being a faithful attender at all the services he was seldom absent from any meetings connected with the Church, and was a willing helper in all branches of Church work. Mr Thomson was also an ardent bowler, and was one of the best known members of the Broxburn Club. He was one of the old school, and his cheerful disposition had the effect of putting some "life" into any game in which he took part. By his death the community has sustained a heavy loss, and this will he more particularly felt by those who were his associates in the West Church. His funeraltook place to Uphall cemeteryon Wednesday, and was large attended.
