James K. Towers James K. Towers, 87, of 1515 E. Market St., died at 7:10 a.m. Thursday at Memorial Osteopathic Hospital. He was the husband of Gladys O. Ortlip Towers. Before retirement he was employed 38 years as a process engineer for the former Hardinge Manufacturing Co. He was a registered professional engineer, a member of Advent Lutheran Church and served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army during World War I. He was a member of York Post 127, American Legion; VFW Post 556; Military Order of Foreign Wars of the U.S.; Enoch Royal Arch Chapter 23, Frederick, Md.; and a 50-year member of the Grand Commandery of Knights Templar. Mr. Towers, born in Brooklyn, N.Y., was the son of the late Walter and Jean Kerr Towers. Survivors include a son, James K. Towers Jr., Lancaster; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Elmer Towers, Venice, Fla. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Everhart Funeral Home, East and Market streets. The Rev. Robert L. Lang Jr., his pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
