David was born on April 8th, 1778 in Linlithgow.^5 6   He died due to a respiratory problem and/or pneumonia, chronic bronchitis, duration 5 days, at the age of 85 on January 16th, 1864 in Leith.  He was buried in Edinburgh.^7 8 9
