Barbara's father was John Walker and her mother was Isabella Neil.  Her paternal grandparents were James Walker and Janet Flint. She had two brothers and three sisters, named James, John, Janet, Isabella and Mary.  She was the youngest of the six children.  She died at the age of 55 in 1882 in Saline.
