Euphemia's father was James Scoffield and her mother was Jane Bone.  Her maternal grandparents were James Bone and Janet Duncan. She had a brother and five sisters, named James, Janet, Ann, Mary, Euphemia and Jean.  She was the youngest of the seven children.
