Alexander's father was David Rennie and his mother was Jeanie Muirhead.  His paternal grandparents were Alexander Rennie and Janet Ross. He had five brothers named David, James, David, Robert and John.  He was the oldest of the six children. He had a half-sister named Flora.  He died before June 23rd, 1958.³
