Mette was born in 1699.  Mette's father was Christen Christensen Gaasti and her mother was Karen Svendsdatter.  Her paternal grandparents were Christen Nielsen and Mette Jensdatter. She had a brother and two sisters, named Jens, Birgitte and Maren.  She died at the age of 80 in 1779.
