Joel was born on November 11th, 1803 in Greene Co., TN.  Joel's father was Christian Bowers and his mother was Elizabeth Andes.  His paternal grandparents were Christian Bowers and Maria Elizabeth Schindeldecker .  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 49 on May 21st, 1853 in Sinking Springs, Greene, Tennessee.
