John Sevier's father was John Sevier Trotter and his mother was Asa Ailsey White.  His paternal grandparents were William Trotter and Elizabeth Ashley. He had three brothers named Amos Ranier, Asa Marshall and others. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Henry, Archibald A and Dorothy Dolly.
