William De was born on December 3rd, 1638 in Easington, Holderness, York, England.  William De's father was Gen. Robert exiled to Barbadoes Overton and his mother was Anne Gardiner Gardner.  His maternal grandfather was Jeremy of Stratford Bow, Middlesex Gardiner and his maternal grandmother is Anne Potticary. He had two brothers and a sister, named John, Benjamin alias Ebenezer and Ann.  He was the second oldest of the four children.  He died about 1697.
