Nathaniel was born in 1712 in Va.  Nathaniel's father was Edward Maxey and his mother was Susannah Gates.  His paternal grandparents are Edward Maxey and Elizabeth Ann Wyatt. He had five brothers named Edward, John Marshall, William, Sylvanus and Walter Justinian.  He was the fourth oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 67 in 1779 in Powhatan, Co. Virginia.
