  • 1. Richard Marshall, 1799 - Reel 35 Will Bk 4, p. 22
    
         The Last Will and Testament of Richard Marshall of Albemarle County
    and
    State of Virginia, is dated 1 October 1798. It was entered into the Court
    record (i.e. proved ) in April 1799 at which time he was deceased. The will
    lists his wife Mary Marshall and his children:"James Boswell, my naturally
    begotten son and all the rest of my children, namely: Polly Marshall,
    Joseph
    Marshall, Henry Marshall, Richard Marshall, Betsy Marshall, William
    Marshall,
    & Thomas Marshall". He also lists as joint executors, William
    Marshall & Mathew Boswell Jr.
    
    
    2.  Henry, James, Joseph Marshall - 7 Nov 1831
    
         "This Indenture made and ordered into this seventh day of November
    1831,
    between James Marshall, Henry Marshall, and Thomas Thornton attorney in
    fact
    for Richard Marshall of the one part and William Wood of the other part.
    Witnesseth that the said James Marshall, Henry Marshall and Thomas
    Thornton in
    consideration of the sum of forty dollars to each of them in hand paid
    by the
    said William Wood the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged and they
    herewith fully satisfied, have granted bargained and ? and delivered to the
    said William Wood all the interest of the said James Marshall & Henry
    Marshall
    and all the interest of a certain Joseph Marshall of Kentucky in a certain
    tract or parcel of land belonging to the estate of Richard Marshall
    Deceased
    and lying in the county of Albemarle and State of Virginia and adjoining
    the
    lands of William Wood, John M. Wood, Willis Wood, Richard Dossey and
    William
    Howard and containing One Hundred acres be the same more or less. The
    true and
    lawful title of which the said James Marshall and Henry Marshall for their
    interest and the said Thomas S. Thornton for the interest of the said
    Joseph
    Marshall do forever warrant and defend to the said William Wood and his
    heirs,
    deceased ? from the ? of themselves and of all persons whatever. As witness
    our hand and seals the above day and date. Witnessed by (among others)
    James,
    Henry, Melinda, Dorotha Marshall, Thomas S. Thornton". Statement by the
    J.Ps
    that Melinda Marshall (wife of James) and Dorotha Marshall (wife of Henry)
    sign for their husbands. Also that Thomas S. Thornton, of Orange Co., is
    acting attorney for Richard Marshall of Missouri (Kentucky was crossed out).
