Nancy was born on May 1st, 1814 in McNairy, McNairy, Tennessee.  Nancy's father was Mathew Marshall and her mother was Mary Ann Polly McCullar McCullough.  Her paternal grandparents are Joseph and or Matthew Marshall (POSS) and Nancy; her maternal grandparents were Alexander McCullough and Esther. She had six brothers and three sisters, named WIlliam, Joel Green, John Robert Young Pap, Alexander J, Smith, <Unknown>, <Unknown>, <Unknown> and Polly. She had six half-brothers and two half-sisters, named John Gray Smith, Hiram G, <Unknown>, <Unknown>, <Unknown>, <Unknown>, <Unknown> and <Unknown>.
