Martha was born in 1836 in VA  or W VA.  Martha's father was Fendolph Marshall and her mother was Mary Jane Fife.  Her paternal grandparents were William H Marshall and Nancy Jones. She had two brothers and a sister, named William Lewis, Thomas and Melinda.  She was the second oldest of the four children. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Creed Fendolph and Mary Elizabeth.
