Joseph G was born on June 16th, 1811 in Juniata Township, Cumberland, Pennsylvania.  Joseph G's father was John Marshall and his mother was Christiana Cocke? Cox? Koch.  His maternal grandparents were Peter Cocke? Cox? Koch and Margaret Bosserman. He had five brothers and three sisters, named William, John, Peter, Samuel, George W, Sarah, Elizabeth and Margaret C.  He was the second oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 90 on July 17th, 1901.
