Jean was born on August 1st, 1797 in Hawkins Co., TN.  Jean's father was John Marshall and her mother was Ann Long. She had seven brothers and two sisters, named William, Joseph, George, Rutledge, John, Thomas, David R, Elizabeth and Ann.  She was the seventh oldest of the ten children.
