George was born on September 26th, 1779 in Yorkshire, England.  George's father was William Marshall and his mother was Jane.  His paternal grandparents were William Marshall and Ann. He had a brother and five sisters, named Thomas, Elizabeth, Jane, Mary, Hannah and Ann.  He died at the age of 86 on February 6th, 1866 in Black Hawk, Iowa.
