Elbert Newton was born on July 23rd, 1856 in Rush Co Indiana.  Elbert Newton's father was Freeborn Garrison Marshall and his mother was Margaret Robertson.  His paternal grandparents were James N Marshall and Susannah D Baker AND/OR Carpenter. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Columbus, Tilson Wheeler, Silas, Marion, Samuel R, John Robertson, Susanna, Rachel Anna, Samantha and Sarah F.  He was the nineth oldest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 69 on November 12th, 1925 in Shelby Co.,Ind.
