    YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Mr. Earl Thomas Marshall Sr., 90, passed away at his
    residence on Saturday, July 25, 2009.
    
    
    Mr. Marshall was born Aug. 15, 1918 in Prince George County, Virginia, a son of
    Oscar Thomas and Elnora Epps Marshall.
    
    
    He served in the U.S. Army, worked at U.S. Steel and Carnegie Corporation, was a
    self-employed carpenter, and successfully fulfilled his dream of building his
    own home.
    
    
    He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, where he held the position of
    Trustee. In 1978, he assisted in the building of their current edifice.
    
    
    He is survived by his wife, Elvena; two sons, Earl Thomas (Minnie Earl) Marshall
    Jr. of Oak Park, Mich. and Willie Everett Marshall of Youngstown; a sister,
    Patricia Turner of Cincinnati; nine grandchildren; and a number of
    great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
    
    
    He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Oscar Craig Marshall; two
    brothers, Joseph and Paul Marshall; and two sisters, Dorothy Mickens and
    Catherine Sims.
    
    
    Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the New Hope Baptist Church, where
    friends may call one hour prior to services.
