David was born in 1780 in Gloucester County, NJ.  David's father was Thomas Marshall and his mother was Ann Pease.  His paternal grandparents were Randall Marshall and Hannah Chew; his maternal grandparents were David Pease and Elizabeth. He had four brothers and a sister, named John, William, Randall, Thomas and Rebecca.  He was the youngest of the six children.  He died at the age of 82 in 1862 in West Chester, Chester Co., Pa.
