Alexander was born about 1849.  Alexander's father was John Marshall and his mother was Sarah SHEVENELL.  His paternal grandparents were Alexander Marshall and <Unknown>. He had four brothers and two sisters, named John, Thomas, Robert, James, Ellen and Jane.  He is the fourth oldest of the seven children.
