Alexander was born on January 31st, 1774.  Alexander's father was William fiddle player clockmaker Marshall Esq and his mother was Jane Chiles (Giles). He had four brothers and a sister, named Francis, John, George, William and Jane.  He died at the age of 33 on January 31st, 1807 in Keithmore.
