John Adair was born on May 26th, 1789.  John Adair's father was Samuel Mercer MCDOWELL Jr and her mother was Anna Irvine.  Her paternal grandparents were Col Samuel  Mercer (Judge) MCDOWELL and Mary McClung; her maternal grandparents were Abram Irvine and Mary Dean. She had a sister named Sarah Sallie Mercer.  She is the older of the two children.
