Placide was born in May 1796 in Mobile, Alabama,Spanish Colonial Florida.  Placide's father is Hugo Daniel Krebs and his mother is Louise LeFlore.  His maternal grandfather was Jean Baptiste LeFlore (LeFleur) and his maternal grandmother is Marie Jeanne Girard. He had a brother named Etienne.  He is the younger of the two children.
