Thomas was born in 1682 in Surry , VA.  Thomas' father is George Jordan and his mother was Mary Brown.  His paternal grandparents are Arthur Jordan and Elizabeth Bevin; his maternal grandfather was Col William Brown and his maternal grandmother is Mary Brown. He has six brothers and three sisters, named George, Arthur, James, River, Charles, Thomas, Mary, Elizabeth and Jane.  He is the third oldest of the ten children.
