John FitzGILBERT le MARECHAL; `the Marshall'; (of Rockley) was born in 1106 in Normandy, France.  John FitzGILBERT le MARECHAL; `the Marshall'; (of Rockley)'s father was Gilbert FitzRobert Master Marshal of the king's household under King Henry Marshall and his mother was Miss De Venuz.  His paternal grandparents are Gilbert Marshall and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents are Geoffrey Marescall Venuz and <Unknown>. He had a brother named William.  He died at the age of 58 in 1164.
