    My Grdmother was 1/2 Cherokee. She told me.
    Her m. was Immogine Horton - f. Giles Shehorn
    Her f. was Alphonzo Horton. - m. Nancy Witter
    His father was Samuel Horton.-m. Sarah Wilson
    I never asked her who was the Cherokee..her m. or her f.
    Now I am pulling my hair out to find which side the blood comes from. She never talked about it much anyway.
    She died when I was 17. The Cherokee were very elusive people..always trying to hide (intermarried with Whites) in order not be sent to a Rez. Some are listed as White and some as Mullato. There are Horton's on both the Dawes Rolls of the Western Band. and the Guion-Miller Rolls of the Eastern Band. My Grmother said after she married my Grfather..when the Census taker came around..she would hide in the closet and my Grfather would say.."All that live in this house are White." So there I am..
