Marshall was born on October 21st, 1847 in IL.  Marshall's father was Jackson John Greathouse and his mother was Sarah Sorrells.  His paternal grandfather was Harmon Greathouse and his paternal grandmother is Elizabeth Masoner. He had two sisters named Isadora and Missouri Arabell.  He died at the age of 53 on January 25th, 1901 in Carbondale, Jackson Co., IL.
