John was born on August 17th, 1817.  John's father is Isham Goin and his mother is Susannah Sukey Sukie Sookie Bratcher.  His paternal grandparents are Daniel Goin and Ann Preston; his maternal grandparents are James and or Canada Canady Bratcher and Sarah Sally Sharpe. He had two brothers and a sister, named Daniel, Preston and Canada.  He was the youngest of the four children.  He died at the age of 67 on February 20th, 1885 in TN.
