William was born about 1626 in Jamestown Colony, Virginia.  William's father is Commissioner William Farrar (Ferrers) and his mother is Cicely Reynolds.  His paternal grandparents are John Ferrers and Cecily Kelke; his maternal grandparents are Thomas Reynolds and Cicely Pippen.  He is an only child.
