Peter was born on February 12th, 1671.  Peter's father was Willem Geretse Covenhoven and his mother is Jannetje Pieterse Monfort.  His paternal grandfather is Garrett Wolferssen Van Covenhoven and his paternal grandmother was Altje Cool; his maternal grandfather was Peter Monfort and his maternal grandmother is Sarah De Plancken. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Cornelius, Albert Willemse, Jacob W, Jan Willemse, William W, Neeltje, Sarah, Annetje and Jacomynje.  He is the second oldest of the ten children. He had a half-brother named Garrett William.
