Jacob was born in 1768 in Bedford Co., Virginia.  Jacob's father was Josias Coffer and his mother is Mary Catherine Lauchart Lockhart.  His paternal grandfather was Thomas Coffer and his paternal grandmother is <Unknown>. He had a brother.  He died at the age of 76 in 1844 in Bedford Co., Virginia.
