Thomas was born in 1671 in Ipswich, Essex, Massachusetts.  Thomas' father was John Shute Chute Chewte Shutes of Groton Choate and his mother was <Unknown>.  His paternal grandparents are Robert Choate and Sarah.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 74 in 1745.
