William was born about 1649.  William's father is Job of Port Tobacco Maryland Chandler and his mother is Ann Thorogood.  His maternal grandparents are Adam Thorogood (Thoroughgood) and Ann Edwards. He had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Gerrard, Adam, Ann Elizabeth Fowke and Mary.
