John Gordon was born on August 25th, 1803 in Halifax Co, VA.  John Gordon's father is James immigrant Chalmers and his mother is Sarah Lanier Williams.  His paternal grandparents are Ronald Chalmers and Lady Janet Hamilton; his maternal grandparents are Robert Williams and Sarah Sally Lanier.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 43 on January 1st, 1847 in TX.
