James P was born on April 29th, 1794 in Monroe Co. VA.  James P's father was Isaac Immigrant Carr and his mother was Elizabeth Lemon Layman. He had a sister named Nancy.  He was the younger of the two children.  He died at the age of 87 on January 28th, 1882 in Braxton Co. VA.
